DEARNE VALLEY COUNTRY PARK

This wildlife haven is less than a mile from Barnsley Town Centre and extends for two miles along the River Dearne. At the centre of the Park is the River Dearne.
DOVE VALLEY TRAIL
Silkstone Common, S Yorkshire
Ideal for walking! The Dove Valley trail runs on a former railway line from Silkstone Common towards Wombwell and beyond passing through Dodworth and Worsborough and forms part of the National Trans Pennine Trail.
ELSECAR PARK

A great park ideal for younger and odler children. Sandpit, playground, cafe and sports facilities. Free car park and toilets. There is a little walk around the reservoir and ducks to feed.
INGBIRCHWORTH RESERVOIR
Wellthorne Lane, S36 7GN.
A beautiful, scenic reservoir to walk around. No facilities. Not particularly buggy friendly (maybe in summer when the ground is softer!). Perfect for little legs - approx 2.1km.
LOCKE PARK

A great park complete with Children's play area, cafe, public toilets, bowling green and pavilion and car park.
RABBIT INGS COUNTRY PARK

Rabbit Ings is a country park located on the former colliery yard and spoil heap of the Monkton Colliery. The 64-hectare site, situated near Royston in South Yorkshire, is home to an array of wildlife.

Visit our petting farm for free.  The site is dog friendly too, Walk down the ancient wagon way alongside Silkstone beck, bring a picnic to have on the table under the oak trees by the stream or bring your bicycle and use our site as a hub to explore the area.
