Dog Friendly Halloween and Half Term Things to Do in South Yorkshire and beyond...

It's that time of the year again, Autumns is slowly descending on us and as parents, we're already planning, booking and scheduling the next half term holiday and activities in...


Here are some popular dog friendly Halloween days outs, walks, trails that I've found to be happening this October in South Yorkshire and beyond:

 

CONFIRMED

Halloween event at Mother Shiptons Cave

23-31st October

Tickets required in advance


Find the witch hunt at Rufford Abbey Country park

16-31st October

If you spot her on your walk round the park this Halloween, head to the ‘eerie orangery’ The Orangery Plant Centre and tell the ghosts where you saw her to pick up your chocolate treat.

Then finally, nip to the Gruesome Gift Shop in the Courtyard to break the spell over the Abbey and collect your Adventure Pack on your way out when telling the haunted hostess.


(un)natural trail at Shipley country park

Sunday 24 - Sunday 31 October

10.30am - 3.30pm (Turn up any time - self-led activity. Booking NOT required)

Come along and follow the Halloween trail to track down the clue cards to help you complete the activity sheet all about weird nature and receive a sweet treat!

Start: Visitor Centre (DE75 7GX)

Length: 1 mile approx.

Cost: £2 per child

Golden acre country park - family pumpkin trail

30-31st October

Over 200 pumpkins and trail sheet


Ecclesall Woods - pumpkin trail

30th October 10-3pm

collect a map from the woodland discovery centre and see how many pumpkins you can find hidden around the woods


Outdoor spooky spells trail

9 - 31st October

25-31st October

Halloween hunt, face painting, fancy dress completions. garden tickets required.


Elvaston Castle & Country park

31st October

The trail runs 10.30am-3pm and Elvaston-grown pumpkins are available for carving while stocks last 🎃 £2 per trail sheet (cash only please!), pumpkin prices will vary. Dogs on leads welcome.


Wentworth Garden Centre

Historic gardens Halloween trail

25th - 31st October


22nd - 31st October

Pick a trail sheet from selected outlets and find the clues around the town centre


Carsington Water Halloween Trail

23rd - 31st October Follow the pumpkin trail to see how many facts you can find. Fancy dress is highly encouraged 😊 No booking required, just come to site and you can buy your trail map for £3 each from the reception in the visitor centre.

Once you’ve completed the trail you will receive a bag of trick or treat sweets.

29-31st October 2021

Wakefield

23rd - 31st October 2021

Purchase an activity sheet from the Visitor centre and head on the woodland trail and see how many scraecrows you can spot. Figure out the secret code to win your treat.

Lots of attractions including the UK’s best Pick Your Own Pumpkins Experience with over 200,000 Pumpkins of all colours, shapes & sizes!

Approx 1 hour from Sheffield.

Pick your own pumpkins from the decorated woodland walk and enjoy fun for the whole family. There'll be plenty of pumpkins to choose from, photo areas, quizzes and more! Gift shop and cafe.


25th Oct - 31st October 2021

Approx 1.5hrs from Sheffield.

Full line up to be announced bu includes a 'terrifying trail', ghost stories and creepy crafts. More to be revealed.


Knaresborough

23rd October - 31st October 2021

Suitable for all ages, explore the spooky forest and Halloween Haunted Village, but watch out for witches, ghosts and creepy skeletons around every corner! There’s lots of ghoulish fun to be had with photo opportunities and fancy dress competitions. Online booking is essential.


2-3rd, 9-10th, 16-31st October 2021

Wakefield

Although dogs are not allowed on the patch itself, they are welcome to enter the festival.


Harrogate

Pumpkin picking and carving, slime making, haunted house, haunted maze and more. Limited dog access, check website before visiting. Book via website.


York

23rd - 31st October 2021

Have a go at carving your own pumpkin (the take it home so you can show it off to your friends!), make some spooky crafts, take part in our spooky Halloween treasure trail and be spellbound by our storyteller in this fabulous half term event.


Leeds

Pumpkin patch and Scarecrow trail

Calver Village, Derbyshire

A spooky trail around the village checking out displays with a goody bag at the end. Must register childs name in advance to receive one.

Over October half term, join us in a hunt around the peaceful yet eerily atmospheric woodland, finding a frightfully fun series of handcrafted scenes.
