Half term and Jubilee Celebrations - whats on and dog friendly in South Yorkshire?

The forthcoming May, spring bank half term looks set to be a joyous and eventful week. With lots of places hosting a wide range of special activities for the Jubilee weekend and people taking advantage of the extra bank holiday days, it looks set to be a good one. Lets hope the weather holds out too and makes it extra special.


I have pulled together a list of known events and activities taking place for the week/weekend which are dog friendly, take a peek below:


Please note - dogs must be on leads unless specified and events may be crowded/busy.


Norfolk Heritage Park, Sheffield

Platinum Jubilee Show

Thurs 2nd June 1-10pm

Lots of fun filled activities including fire juggling, fancy dress show, food and drink stalls, music and entertainment etc.


Sandall Park, Doncaster

Jubilee celebrations and the 'big picnic' including a mini funfair, sniffer dog demonstrations, inflatable zone, music and games. Also a 'paws picnic'.

Sunday 5th June 11-5


Phoenix Park, Thurnscoe

Wed 1st June, 11-2pm

Jubilee fun in the park including special events, fancy dress parade, dog show, dancing, heritage activities. Refreshments available, BYO picnic. Car park will be closed.

Free entry.


Waverley's Central Park, Rotherham

Sunday 5th June 1-4pm

A BYO picnic in the park complete with jubilee pudding competition, dog show and activities for the kids. Food and drink stalls. Free entry


Lakeside Village, Doncaster

2-4th June 10-4.30pm

A weekend of celebrations including live dancing, singing, vintage vehicles, crafts and displays.


Elsecar Heritage Centre, Barnsley

3-5th June, 10-4pm

Enjoy 3 days of history, food, drink and entertainment in this picture perfect setting. Go along for outdoor markets, pop up shops, and family trails.

Sheffield Food Festival, Peace Gardens, Sheffield

2-5th June

Enjoy 4 days of delicious food and drink stalls as the festival returns to Sheffield in time for the bank holiday weekend.


Frecheville Community Centre, Sheffield

4th June 2-5pm

Fun Dog Show hosted by the Craft Den. Entry fees apply £2 per category


Anston Parish Council Jubilee Day, Ryton Road, Sheffield

Dog show, 2nd June 11-3pm

Free entry to the day, £2 entry to the dog show (proceeds to Thornberry Animal Sanctuary)


Cross Scythes Hotel/Pub, Totley, Sheffield

Jubilee party

4th June 12pm til late

With face painting, bouncy castle, BBQ and inflatables. Dogs welcome on short leads.

Wentworth Woodhouse, Rotherham

4-5th June

Fanily fun in the gardens encouraging people to wear blue, white or red. Can order special jubilee picnics to enjoy in the gardens. Entry fees may apply.

A weekend of celebrations including a special market, street entertainment, face painting,bouncy castles, corgi trail and much more

A host of activities taking place over the weekend including a street party with live music, childrens activities and crafts.
