Langsett Reservoir, Accessible and Buggy Friendly Walk

We are so lucky to have such an abundance of scenery and greenery on our doorstep, and less than 5 miles south west of Penistone, lies this beauty of a walk. Not only does it look good, its also a functioning water to supply to Sheffield and Barnsley making it one of the biggest supply reservoirs in Sheffield.

Additionally it offers fantastic walking opportunities for visitors from the local area and beyond. With a variety of Walking routes going through woodlands and stunning views across the water.

The accessible walk does not disappoint. This route takes you along the northern shore of Langsett Reservoir. There are plenty of opportunities to admire the views, lots of woodlands for the children and dogs to explore and wildlife to spot. Either take the reservoir shore route and return the way you came, or follow the circular route which takes you back to the car park through more woods and alongside open fields. A link to the route can be found here:

The terrain is very good and suitable for buggies with well surfaced paths, most of which is relatively flat with few steep sections. A few muddy bits en route worth mentioning so pack our walking boots and be prepared to clean the pram afterwards.

Overall, a good 2.5 mile walk so ideal for small legs and good off the lead opportunities for the dog.

Free parking is available at the Langsett Barn car park (S36 4GY). However it can get busy at peak times, alternative parking is available at Langsett Flouch car park which is further up the A616 - however note its a very busy road. Toilets also at the car park.

Check out Bank View Cafe for nearby refreshments and toilet/changing facilities
