Complete with a nice little playground (gated, but dogs can be nearby) and lots of open fields and woods to explore. There is also a little lake nearby.

CHESTERFIELD CANAL

Hollingwood Hub, 22 Works Road, Chesterfield, S43 2PF

Although the canal spans 46 miles, there are different entry points to join and a number of circular walks to follow. See their website for more info on which routes to follow.

CLIFFE PARK

3 Princess Rd, Dronfield S18 2XU

A great, ungated park ideal for toddlers and older children. Great equipment, open fields for games, cafe and toilets on site. Dogs can always be nearby. Free parking.

GRASSMOOR COUNTRY PARK

Birkin Lane, Grassmoor, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S42 5BP

It’s a great place for walking or cycling  and a perfect place for a picnic. It’s mostly on level ground with surfaced tracks for easier access. Free parking

HARDWICK HALL

Hardwick, Doe Lea, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S44 5QJ

Exploring the acres of countryside with your four-legged friend is one of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful parkland at Hardwick. Dogs on leads are welcome to explore many areas across the Hardwick estate including the parkland and stableyard. Please note: No dogs in the formal gardens.

HOLMEBROOK VALLEY PARK

Water Meadow Lane, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S41 8XP

A large country park on the outskirts of Chesterfield with a beautiful lake, which is home to plenty of ducks, and geese.
There are play areas for children, cycle paths and footpaths through and around the park popular with dog walkers and cyclists. Cafe and Toilets on site. Free parking. Paths are 'stoney' therefore sling recommended. 

LINACRE RESERVOIRS

Woodnook Ln, Cutthorpe, Chesterfield S42 7JW

There are 3 reservoirs at Linacre, and they are surrounded by fields and bluebell woods.  There are several trails around the Reservoirs. Parking fees apply. Toilets.

PLEASLEY PIT COUNTRY PARK & MUSEUM

Pit Lane, Pleasley, Mansfield, NG19 7PH

If you fancy a spot of history and walking trails, this is the place for you. Level grounds for easy access, cafe and toilets. Opportunity to see the former pit in action in some exhibits. Dogs accepted on a lead.

POOLSBROOK COUNTRY PARK

Pavilion Dr, Staveley, Chesterfield S43 3WL

A country park ideal for little legs. Ducks are a plentiful, playground and a walk around the lake are on offer. Free parking. Cafe & toilets

POULTER COUNTRY PARK

3 Whaley Road, Langwith, Bolsover, Derbyshire, 
NG20 9HS

The country park has well surfaced limestone paths that wander through woods and meadows. There are two ponds in the Park and two waymarked trails.  If you follow the longer route, look out for Art sculptures along the way. Good for scenic views. Car Park.

QUEENS PARK

Off Boythorpe Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S40 2ND

This is a beautiful park with a range of facilities and amenities. Two playgrounds, Sandpit, Miniature train, Cafe (licensed), Toilets, and Chargeable parking. There is plenty of open space for picnics and games. Also tarmac paths make it suitable for buggys, scooters and bikes.

Small local park with playground.

TIBSHELF PONDS

High Street, Tibshelf

Tibshelf Ponds is at the southern end of the 5 pits trail and is lovely for short walks through meadows and woodlands. Accessible, buggy friendly paths. Picnic areas

WILLIAMTHORPE PONDS AND NATURE RESERVE

Off the Mansfield Road, between Temple Normanton and Heath

One of the newest nature reserves in the area and great to enjoy the countryside. Join the 5 pits trail to venture further. Good buggy friendly paths, ducks to feed, off the lead dog opportunities.

Ideal for history lovers. Athough dogs are not allowed inside historic buildings, theres is plenty to explore in the grounds. Also hosting a summer trail for children. Cafe, Toilets and play area. English Heritage site therefore entrance fees may apply.

DOBBIES GARDEN CENTRE

4 Highwood Way, Balborough Links, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S43 4XN

A firm favourite of ours. Dog friendly throughout (except soft play) with lots of fish to see (and feed) and an outdoor play area. Space in the cafe for dogs. Free paring and toilets on site. Ideal for rainy days. Often host child and dog friendly events.

WILLOW SPRINGS PET & PLAY CENTRE

Whittington Way, Whittington Moor, Old Whittington, Chesterfield S41 9AG

A great little day out. A garden centre with small animals, reptiles and fish. Plenty of play equipment (indoor and out) and a good cafe. Free parking and toilets on site. (Dogs not allowed in soft play).
