Dog Friendly Scotland Holiday

This review comes from a lovely lady in our online community who wanted to share her Dog Friendly Holiday to Scotland with us. Melissa is from South Yorkshire and traveled up north with her dogs and children and shares her trip details below:

"My husband surprised us with a trip around Scotland instead of our cancelled trip to America. Although it seemed like a long way to travel, we stopped twice on the way up with the kids and dogs at Carlisle services. It was approx 4 hours without stops to Glen Devon. Then a further 2 hours up to Whitebridge then another 2.5 hours to Ayr but we took the scenic route through all the Highlands!

We stayed in a dog friendly cottage / lodge called The Wee Lodge in Glen Devon with an abundance of walks for all abilities on its doorstep. We went to a safari park near Stirling, called Blair Drummond that had kennels for your dog's! We thought this was great so we could still take the kids somewhere and knew the dogs were safe. We took their bed and they provided a water bowl and treats while you were having family time.

We then traveled to Whitebridge near Loch Ness and stayed in the Whitebridge hotel which is an awesome dog friendly hotel in the middle of know where with doggy treats in abundance! We went to find Loch Ness on a boat trip and the dogs could come at no extra charge.

And then we travelled down to Ayr. We stopped in a dog friendly apartment.. but the biggest joy was Ayr beach! Which is a dog friendly beach all year round! It's very long and wide with loads of space and the water was clean and went out a long way before getting too deep. Our doggies, 'Purdy and Spikey' (a Kingjack and a Bichon), were absolutely living their best lives on the sand with us. Our children are aged 7 & 2 so it was ideal for all ages and we even found a dog friendly fantastic cafe called the unity grill in the center of Ayr which did fantastic pancakes all day!

Hope this will be of some help to anyone wanting a dog friendly holiday / staycation this year. Ayr was for us purr-fect!"

Sounds like a fab dog friendly holiday!
