Dog Friendly Halloween 2020

It's that time of the year again, the kids have gone back to school and the dog is finally taking a well earned rest during the week. However, as parents, we're now already planning, booking and scheduling the next half term holiday in...


Here are some popular dog friendly Halloween days outs, walks, trails that I've found to be happening this October in Yorkshire.

CONFIRMED


20th Oct - 1st Nov

£2 a trail sheet. Dogs welcome


30th - 1st Nov

Enjoy the great outdoors while searching the garden for clues. Pumpkins, ghost, bats and witches to be found. Booking advised.


17th Oct - 1st Nov

Trail is £1.00 per child which includes a voucher to get a hot chocolate and a Halloween cookie at a reduced price of £3.50.

Trail sheets are available to purchase from the Visitor Centre - Please bring your own pencil or pen to fill in the sheet.


Pugneys Light Railway

30th Oct - 1st Nov

5.30-8.00pm only

Dare you venture into the woods? Spooktacular miniature train ride into the woods. Ideal for after a walk around Pugneys Country Park.

Spooky pub grub - Old Horns Inn

31st Oct - 1st Nov

Great for after walking around Dam Flask or Agden Reservoir. Enjoy a spooky pub lunch. All the spooky trimmings, fancy dress for kids (and adults) encouraged and dog friendly. Kids get a free goody bag. great food!


17th Oct - 1st Nov

The spiders of Sherwood have stolen something very precious from Robin Hood, can you complete all the challenges on the trail to crack the code and return it? £2 and inclidea a free souvenir pencil.


Spooky Sherwood Detective Pack

Get in the Halloween spirit with our Spooky Sherwood Detective Pack, containing craft materials and family nature activities for the forest. £1 per pack, available 10am – 3pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in half term.

26th Oct - 31st October

Approx 1.5hrs from Sheffield.

The expert pumpkin patrol has been busy planting pumpkins in places you would never think to look!  Make sure you keep your eyes peeled. Search high and low but be wary of witches, werewolves or any other horrid Halloween monsters lurking around our Grounds - they're protecting the pumpkins. Book online.


24 October - 1 November 2020

Follow a trail of over-sized pumpkins through Strid Wood and discover the mystery doors hidden among the trees. Behind each door is a clue to help unravel the witch's magical spell. With a fun surprise awaiting you at The Strid. Dogs on leads welcome. Pre book parking.


24th Oct - 1st Nov

Visit Lotherton this October half term and follow the spooky skeletons trail around the estate and into the haunted house! Pre Booking only.


1 - 31st October 2020

Approx 1 hour from Sheffield.

Pick your own pumpkins from the decorated woodland walk and enjoy fun for the whole family. There'll be plenty of pumpkins to choose from, photo areas, quizzes and more!

17th Oct - 8th Nov

Each bat family has its own unique colour and witch mark, can you find them all around the site? £3 to take part and includes a prize.


Large pumpkin patch, say hello to the resident witch Jules, and have pictures taken with her. Plus follow the clues on the Halloween trail, find the hidden word & collect a prize. Tickets only. Book online.


Sat 31st October

Fun for everyone with a Halloween trail and picnic hamper for both the kids and the adults.

Complimentary cup of tea/filter coffee for the adults. Trail sheet included for the kids (and the adults) Chocolate or packet of sweets on completion of the trail. Booking is essential.


24th Oct - 1st Nov

Wanda the Witch has dropped her pumpkins at Upper Derwent Valley and she needs your help to save Halloween and find them!

No booking required, just come to site and you can buy your trail map for £3 each from the visitor centre at Fairholmes; S33 0AQ (includes a craft prize!)

17th October - 15th November 2020

Hunt down the creatures, ghosts, and ghouls in this fun Monster hunt around the parkland and woods. £1.40 per map (no prizes due to COVID). Pre-book parking online.


Doncaster

17th October - 31st October 2020

Search the maize for hidden pumpkins, tricks, treats and crafts. Farmyard and tea room open. Pre-book tickets online.


All-new Ghost Train experience this Halloween!  Will you be brave enough to take a ride?  These fangtastic evening services are not for the weak at heart!  Try them, if you dare...

The Ghost Train experience will last approximately 1 hour and will be running on the evenings of Thursday 29th, Friday 30th & Saturday 31st October 2020.  Pre book tickets only.


Knaresborough

24th October - 1st November 2020

Suitable for all ages, explore the spooky forest and Halloween Haunted Village, but watch out for witches, ghosts and creepy skeletons around every corner! There’s lots of ghoulish fun to be had with photo opportunities and fancy dress competitions. Online booking is essential.


Derby

24th October - 1st November 2020

Pumpkin picking, two spooky trails, fancy dress parade, pumpkin dash and lots more...

Well behaved dogs on leads welcome (not in indoor areas like the cafe, play barn or play areas)


Wakefield

Although dogs are not allowed on the patch itself, they are welcome to enter the festival.


Bolsover

24th October - 1st November

Gather your little monsters for a ghoulishly good day out at Bolsover Castle this half term. Perched on a spectacular hilltop, Bolsover Castle has long had a reputation for ghostly happenings. Said to be one of the countries most haunted castles you’ll definitely be spooked by some eerie fun. Follow the trail to solve creepy clues and gather round to listen to spooky stories. There’s a frighteningly fun fancy dress competition every day – just come in your scariest outfits to be in with a chance of winning. Booking is essential.

Well behaved dogs are allowed just not inside buildings.


Driffield

24 October 2020 - 1 November 2020

If you're feeling brave this half term, why not venture over to Burton Agnes Hall and take part in the fantastically spooky woodland trail! Intrepid visitors are invited on an eerie hunt round the Hall’s atmospheric woodland, where clues are hidden amidst spooky Halloween scenes of witches, spiders and ghostly figures. Once the entire puzzle has been solved, a treat awaits in the Gift Shop. Try not to let the haunting sounds and mysterious shadows of the historic woodland walk scare you whilst searching! Dogs welcome on leads.
